I met David while working at Ski School at the Big in 2017. He quickly became a good friend, always there to laugh/complain about our ski kiddos, take some lunchtime laps, and watch bad 80s ski movies at night. He was so welcoming, and made me feel so comfortable learning to snowboard in the trees or in deep powder for the first time (even though he was lightyears better than me). We stayed in touch after I left Whitefish and had an epic adventure one summer, backpacking the North Circle up in Glacier with our buddy Cole. Even though it rained for at least 80% of the trek, his spirit never dimmed, and I'll always remember being surprised by a mama griz and her cubs while we were sun tanning in our underwear the first day the sun came out. Our biggest fear was that we would be in the newspaper for having been mauled by a grizzly with no pants on.
