Each winter, the area's top young racers gather at Whitefish Mountain Resort for the David Loman Memorial Ski Race — a day of hard racing and celebration in honor of a man who lived for the sport.
Dave was a passionate ski racer and coach who believed in the power of the mountain to bring people together. Put on by Whitefish Mountain Resort, the Flathead Valley Ski Education Foundation (FVSEF), and the Northern Division, this race carries Dave's competitive spirit forward and honors his legacy on the hill he loved. Over two days of racing — typically a giant slalom and a slalom — the weekend brings fierce competition and meaningful connection.
At the race, the Foundation provides an opportunity for connection and shares information about suicide prevention and mental health — because showing up for each other matters as much off the mountain as it does on it.
